The berimbau is originally from Africa and is made from a wooden bow, with a calabash / gourd placed over the bow to act as a resonator. The bowstring is then tapped with a thin wooden beater, with a stone or coin pressing against it to change the pitch. The caxixi is a kind of shaker that is held in the hand at the same time playing counter time. |
