"But I thought it was copyright free!"
Read on....
The Copyright Issue:
All commercially recorded music is controlled by Copyright Law and the use of this music without permission infringes copyright and is a criminal offence. (even so called "copyright free" or "buy-out" music)
To seek clearance on this music can be expensive and time consuming. The media producer will need to approach the owner of the composition and the sound recording.
We have licensed the right to sell all the sound recordings found in our library.
Therefore we are in a position to grant you a mechanical (synch) and performance licence to use the music in your productions.
Upon each purchase, you receive an automatic licence allowing you to dub the music onto your productions and use it in a public broadcast. As part of the licence you will also be able to make as many copies of your production as you want, without paying any further fees.
All we ask is that you fill out a Cue Sheet if the production is destined for public broadcast. Most broadcasters will require this document anyway.
To make life easier for you, you can fill in a cue sheet from here, CUE SHEET and We will take care of the rest.
*N.B. You can use the tracks as many times as you want
in as many productions of the same category as you
want, but.......
If you want to use it in a different category, you must arrange a new mechanical (synch) and performance license. (see rate card)
You can either do it by re-purchasing the track using the relevant category pull-down at the checkout, or by
contacting us directly if you have a special situation./i>
You can see the full User Agreement that you will have to agree to before downloading. from here :

If your production is never going to be broadcast to the public, it might be a corporate training video for example, then none of the above applies and all you will ever have to pay is the one-off download payment.
This is a complex and fast changing legal environment.
For web pages hosted in the UK, there are various types of licenses for internet broadcast
available from the PRS (Performing Rights Society), depending on how you are going to use the music
on your site.
We reccomend that you have a look at their guidance notes from here. If in doubt, or have any questions, then you should contact them directly.
In the USA you can see how it works from here.
If in doubt, or have any questions, then you should contact them directly.
For other countries you should contact the national PRO (Performing Rights Organization)
of your country.
